STANDING COMMITTEES

Education Committee –

Jillian Sherman, ACP, First Vice President

This committee’s primary function is continuing education in the legal field.  It organizes the organization’s Brown Bag and Dinner Meeting speakers, locations, and sponsors.  This committee also coordinates the Jean H. Membership Committee –

Jayna Kiracofe, Second Vice President

This committee is primarily responsible for maintaining the membership register, emailing notices, and promoting RPA by encouraging other paralegals, students and vendors to join.  This committee also coordinates the Outstanding Paralegal of the Year Award.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Teresa Clark for additional information.

Newsletter Committee –

This committee prepares “On the Record” RPA’s official publication and distributes the newsletter to membership. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Teresa Clark  for additional information.

Nominating and Elections Committee-

This committee issues a call for declarations of candidacy for Officers and Directors.  The chairperson of this committee shall prepare a sample ballot of the candidates.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact us for additional information.

Public Relations Committee –

This committee is responsible for communication of RPA functions and RPA community exposure in local papers, television Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Jayna or Donna for additional information.

Audit Committee-

Technology Committee –

SPECIAL COMMITTEES

Student Relations/Speakers Bureau-

This committee promotes the paralegal profession and RPA by speaking with students at University of Richmond, Centura, J. Pro Bono-

This committee works with Central Virginia Legal Aid Society and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).  The committee works with RPA members that are willing to volunteer their time for either organization and will work with CASA to host a RPA recruiting event.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Teresa or Jayna  for additional information.

Margaret Lewis Mentoring Committee –

This committee is a volunteer program consisting of members of RPA and is designed to match experienced paralegals with paralegal students, paralegals new to the area and to address concerns of seasoned members as they move into other areas of law.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Teresa for additional information.

CP Study Program-

Vacant Position

This committee’s primary function is to coordinate a study group for those members preparing for the CP exam and to provide information regarding taking the exam.  In relation to other paralegal organizations, RPA has a relatively small number of CPs.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Teresa Clark for additional information.

Social Committee-

Bylaws/Standing Rules Committee-

Job Bank-
