Scholarships

The Richmond Paralegal Association offers two scholarship programs – the Jean H. Proffitt & Susan Brewer, Esq. Scholarship Fund and the Janet Scott Scholarship.

Jean H. Proffitt and Susan Brewer, Esq. Scholarship Fund

The Jean H. Proffitt and Susan Brewer, Esq. Scholarship Fund was established by the Richmond Paralegal Association (RPA) to assist Richmond metro paralegal students with tuition and text book costs.

This scholarship award is based on merit and whether the applicant demonstrates a dedication to the program and will likely succeed and become a contributing member of the paralegal profession and legal community.

The RPA Scholarship Committee (a subcommittee of the RPA Education Committee) will select the scholarship winner and will give written notification regarding the outcome to all applicants.  Scholarships will not be awarded to the same recipient in two consecutive years.  The Scholarship Committee’s decision is final.

Janet Scott Scholarship

The Janet Scott Scholarship was established by the Richmond Paralegal Association (RPA) as an annual award to a RPA member in the amount of the cost of applying for and taking the NALA CP Exam or the NALA Advanced Certified Paralegal exam (ACP).

This scholarship award is currently in the amount of $250.  Members meeting the criteria will complete an application form and submit it to RPA Scholarship Committee (a subcommittee of the RPA Education Committee).  A drawing at RPA’s Annual Meeting in November will select the scholarship winner.  The Scholarship Committee’s decision is final.
